The Power of a Great Mentor

Ep. 75 - Brian K - Power of Great Mentor

On Wednesday, August 21 I got the news that my mentor of 20+ years Dan Kennedy would be dead in a matter of days. Needless to say, I was saddened and heartbroken by this sudden, unexpected news. I immediately thought of all he has done for me, and that got me thinking about how important it is to have a great mentor(s). You’ve heard me say it on the podcast over and over… business is hard enough, don’t try and do everything on your own. Find people that can help you get where you want to go. Nearly every successful business owner I know has used the power of other people’s experience and knowledge to grow their business.  Too many entrepreneurs are struggling unnecessarily because they are trying to do it all on their own.

Don't Go At It Alone

This episode is not scripted and admittedly, this episode doesn’t have the same energy as others. It’s just me talking to you about the power of mentors, how to find them and what makes a good mentor. I share my initial struggles with mentors, and share my experience with Dan and some of the qualities that made him a great mentor to me.

So, the message here is; you don’t have to go at it alone, there are plenty of people that can help you and be a mentor to you, you just have to go seek them out. And, if you are someone that has experience and knowledge to share (which I know many of you have) find someone to share it with. Be a mentor to someone else. By definition a mentor is an experienced and trusted adviser. I hope in some small way I’m honoring Dan by sharing this information with you.

Dan was not only an experienced and trusted advisor to me, but to many thousands of others like me. I can’t imagine what my life would be today had I not run into him in Anaheim, California in 1996 and bought what he was selling.

If you are not familiar with Dan Kennedy, here are a few places you can go to learn from him.

Just FYI, these are not affiliate links, I do not make any money sharing these with you.

Dedicated to YOUR success,

Brian K.
